I was telling Lucy earlier, we need something a little more substantial than just "FAF sucks" to justify our existence. It's great that we're a group of buddies on Skype that hang out in a chatroom but the forum was supposed to have a purpose and frankly, I don't think Lucy gives a shit now that she's made Riv look like an idiot and left his crib for dead.

Since we've all been moving from place to place as a group, like the fucking Red Sea Pedestrians out of Egypt, I guess a forum is kinda superfluous. But obviously, people want one. So if it's not this place, it'll be somewhere else.

Honestly I have yet to really find much bad to say about F2F, and I only started poking my nose around SoFurry literally just today but, so far, I don't get all the hate for it. Both seem to be better than FA/F by leaps and bounds. Of course Weasyl is still dead in the water and we know that since it's little more than a very bad, drawn out joke by some of the same people responsible for FAF being what it is, we should probably be grateful for that, if anything.

Look, I'm open to suggestions.

I know the problem is there, I'm just trying to figure out what should be done about it.

It's not like I can pay for advertisement. I've been spreading the word as much as I can on my own. Activity doesn't grow on trees.

Okay, so this is the exact problem I had predicted back on GTWF when people were telling us we should switch forum hosts. You cant take a forum of such a small gathering, with already suffering activity, and just move it to a brand new location. The activity suffers severely, as you can see. Certain people wont make the switch, some people wont feel as compelled to be as active, some just dont care for change...whatever the reason, this was originally why I had declined moving the forum way back when.

You can go around advertising it at places, but usually it just brings in some floaters that contribute a couple posts and then disappear into a void, never to be seen again. And leaving an open invitation to randoms will more often then not bring in people like Eversleep who are looking for another place to infest because the previous place was getting tired of them.

The forums original purpose was to just have a place where the small group from the old random chat thread on FAF could go to chat about whatever the fuck they wanted, and because FAF was balls. The group lost lots of people over the years because thats what happens, and the people that stuck around just werent enough to keep the activity to where it once was.

The activity has been dead for a long time, theres really no fixing it. You can move, introduce flashy forum upgrades, advertise all over FAF, but the fact remains that its always going to be pretty slow because its a small group of people with dwindling numbers.
